FRIEND OR FOE?

ON THE 09/11/09 - My daughter, Samantha
went on leave to St. Michaels-on-Sea. She
went with 3 of her friends from work -
Neville/Erusha and Kamantha.
Very excited as she has not been away for a
year, she packed all her things.
One of the friends picked up everyone and
Samantha drew cash for her accommodation,
food and transport. In her wallet she had all
her credit cards/cash/driver's licence and identity
book.
On arriving at Collier's Estate Agencies where they
had to pay for their accommodation she found that
her wallet was missing.
When they arrived at the flat - a beautiful 3 bedroomed
flat. She was given a bedroom by herself/Neville had
the en-suite room and the other two girls shared a room.
She checked her luggage and bag again, but still
no purse.
She did not enjoy the holiday as she was worried
about her wallet.
When she arrived back on Thursday - 12/11/09,
we went to the Police Station to report the loss.
While she was in the Police Station, Collier's Estate
Agency phoned and informed her that her Identity
Book and Driver's licence had been found in a
crisp packet in the dirtbin. The wallet and credit
cards are still missing.
All 3 "friends" deny every seeing her wallet.
That is why be very careful of your "friends".
She now has to work with these people and pay
Neville for accommodation/Erusha for transport
and Kamantha for food.
I hope that Karma will catch up with one of them.

FRIEND OR FOE?

FRIENDSHIP

FRIEND:

A WARM HANDCLASP,
A FOND EMBRACE,
A FRIENDLY SMILE
WHEN FACE TO FACE -
A CHEERFUL GREETING
WHICH SEEMS TO SAY
THAT YOU'RE CONCERNED
THIS MAKES MY DAY.

I SENSE A GLADNESS
WHEN WE MEET
UPON THE STAIR
OR ON THE STREET.

YOUR SPARKLING EYE -
THIS SIMPLE ACT
MAKES GLAD MY HEART,
NOW, THAT'S A FACT.

A FRIEND IS A PRESENT
TO GIVE TO YOURSELF.

FOR YOU AND FOR ME

Verse 1: Softly and tenderly Jesus is calling
Calling for you and for me;
Patiently Jesus is waiting and watching
Watching for you and for me!
CHORUS .......................

Verse 2: Why should we tarry then Jesus pleading
Pleading for you and for me?
Why should we linger and heed not his mercies
Mercies for you and for me?
CHORUS ......................
Verse 3: Time is now fleeting, the moments are passing
Passing for you and for me;
Shadows are gathering, death-beds are coming
Coming for you and for me!

CHORUS ............................

Verse 4: Oh for the wonderful love he has promised
Promised for you and for me!
Though we have sinned, He has mercy & pardon
Pardon for you and for me!

CHORUS ............................

Chorus: "Come home!.... come home!......
Ye who are weary, come home!"
Earnestly, tenderly Jesus is calling
Calling, o sinner, "come Home!'

MAY THE LORD BLESS AND KEEP US SAFELY IN
THIS COMING WEEK. THIS SONG IS A FAVOURITE
IF MINE.

EVERYONE NEEDS SOMEONE

AFTER THIS WEEKEND I THINK THIS IS FOR
ALL THE PEOPLE IN MY FAMILY AND EXTENDED
FAMILY:

PEOPLE NEED PEOPLE
AND FRIENDS NEED FRIENDS,
AND WE ALL NEED LOVE
FOR A FULL LIFE DEPENDS
NOT ON VAST RICHES OR GREAT ACCLAIM,
NOT ON SUCCESS OR ON WORLDLY FAME,
BUT JUST IN KNOWING THAT SOMEONE CARES
AND HOLD US CLOSE
IN THEIR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS -
FOR ON THE KNOWLEDGE THAT WE'RE UNDERSTOOD
MAKES EVERYDAY LIVING
FEEL WONDERFULLY GOOD,
AND WE ROB OURSELVES
OF LIFE'S GREATEST NEED
WHEN WE "LOCK UP OUR HEARTS"
AND FAIL TO HEED
THE OUTSTRETCHED HAND REACHING TO FIND
A KINDRED SPIRIT WHOSE HEART AND MIND
ARE LONELY AND LONGING TO SOMEHOW SHARE
OUR JOYS AND SORROWS AND TO MAKE US AWARE
THAT LIFE'S COMPLETENESS
AND RICHNESS DEPENDS
ON THE THINGS WE SHARE
WITH OUR LOVED ONES AND FRIENDS.

LORD, PLEASE HELP EACH AND EVERYONE
THIS WEEK AHEAD.

HANDY HINTS

1. To remove beetroot stains, put a saucer
of cold water under the stain and a thick
slice of white bread over it. The bread
absorbs the colour.
2. A few drops of lemon juice added to egg
whites will make them frothier when beaten.
3. To loosen a lid which won't open, place a
hot iron on top of the lid for a few minutes.
4. To dry pantihose, wrap them around a
hot water bottle.
5. To prevent steam from misting up a
bathroom mirror, rub a new cake of soap
thoroughly over the mirror and then rub
well with a dry cloth.
6. To cut fine materials, put the scissors in
boiling water first.
7. To remove ballpoint pen ink from clothes,
rub well with Meths.
8. To prevent bacon from curling when being
cooked, wet the bacon first.
9. Never clean cane furniture with soap and
water, rather use water with lots of salt in it.
10. To keep biscuits crisp, put a sheet of
blotting paper in the tin.
11. If soups or stews are too salty, add 1 or 2
potatoes to the liquid.
12. If lemons are warmed first, they will give
twice as much juice.
13. Keep meat in the fridge for a few days
before cooking, it improves the flavour and
ensures tender meat.
14. Mix 1 teaspoon Baking Powder, 1 teaspoon
Epsom salts, 1 Tablespoon scrubb's ammonia
and 1 Tablespoon saltpetre to a gallon of water.
Give pot plants and ferns a cupful a week as
a tonic.
15. Should you put too much salt into meat,
stir in a little brown sugar.
16. A thin paste of bicarbonate of soda applied
with a cloth takes away the pain of sunburn
and prevents blistering.
17. A thin slice of lemon with cauliflower will
keep it white.
18. Where recipes call for at least 2 eggs, re
place one with a tablespoon of vinegar. This
applies to cakes and puddings.
19. Keep ins and needles in a tin with talcum
powder to prevent rust.
20. Koki pen stains can be removed with nail
polish remover.

THESE HINTS ARE FOR PEOPLE WHO
CANNOT AFFORD THE EXPENSIVE
PRODUCTS THAT ARE AVAILABLE.

NO MATTER WHAT!

NO MATTER WHAT DARK
CLOUDS SETTLE ON MY LIFE,
YOU, LORD, WILL LIFT ME ABOVE
THE STORM AND INTO THE
COMFORT OF YOUR PRESENCE.

WINNER VS LOSERS

THE WINNER IS ALWAYS PART S OF THE ANSWER.
THE LOSER IS ALWAYS PART OF THE PROBLEM.
THE WINNER ALWAYS HAS A PROGRAM.
THE LOSER ALWAYS HAS AN EXCUSE.
THE WINNER SAYS "LET ME DO IT FOR YOU"
THE LOSER SAYS "THAT'S NOT MY JOB".
THE WINNER SEES AN ANSWER FOR EVERY PROBLEM.
THE LOSER SEES A PROBLEM IN EVERY ANSWER.
THE WINER SEES A GREEN NEAR EVERY SAND TRAP.
THE LOSER SEES TWO SAND TRAPS NEAR EVERY GREEN.
THE WINNER SAYS "IT MAY BE DIFFICULT, BUT IT'S POSSIBLE".
THE LOSER SAYS "IT MAY BE POSSIBLE BUT IT'S TOO DIFFICULT".

BEYOND UNDERSTANDING

Philippians 4:1-9

Consider: Listing the nine steps to peace -
one step from each verse in this passage.
Choose one step you can take to experience
God's peace.

My verse for today: Philippians 4:6
DO NOT WORRY ABOUT ANYTHING,
BUT PRAY AND ASK GOD FOR
EVERYTHING YOU NEED, ALWAYS
GIVING THANKS.

1) Lord, I am asking you for a new bakkie for
Loukie. Please undertake for him in his
daily work.

2) Lord, I know I am asking for miracles, but
I believe that you will undertake for our
housing problem as well.

Thank you, Lord. Amen.

Honey & Cinnamon Remedies

Heart Diseases:
Make a paste of honey and cinnamon powder,
apply on bread, instead of jelly and jam, and
eat it regularly for breakfast. It reduces the
cholesterol in the arteries and saves the patient
from heart attacks. Also, those who have already
had an attack, if they do this Process daily they
are kept miles away from the next attack.
Regular use of the above process relieves loss
of breath and strengthens the heart beat. Various
nursing homes have treated patients sucessfully
and have found that as you age, the arteries and
veins lose their flexibility and get clogged; honey
and cinnamon revitalize the arteries and veins.

Arthritis:

Arthritis patients may take daily, morning and
night, one cup of hot water with two spoons of
honey and one small teaspoon of cinnamon powder.
If taken regularly even chronic arthritis can be
cured. In a recent research conducted , it was
found that when the doctors treated their patients
with a mixture of one tablespoon honey and half
teaspoon cinnamon powder before breakfast, they
found that within a week, 73 out of 200 patients
were totally relieved of pain, and within a month,
mostly all the patients who could not walk or move
around because of arthritis started walking without
pain.

Bladder Infections:

Take two tablespoons of cinnamon powder and one
teaspoon of honey in a glass of lukewarm water and
drink it. It destroys the germs in the bladder.

Toothache:

Make a paste of one teaspoon of cinnamon powder
and five teaspoons of honey and apply on the aching
tooth. This may be applied three times a day until
the tooth stops aching.

DEPRESSION

JOB 7:1-8

1. People have a hard task on earth,
and their days are like those of a laborer.
2.They are like a slave wishing for the
evening shadows,
like a laborer waiting to be paid.
3.But I am given months that are empty,
and nights of misery have been give to me.
4. When I lie down, I think, "How long
until I get up?"
The night is long and I toss until dawn.
5. My body is covered with worms and
scabs, and my skin is broken and full of
sores.
6. My days go by faster than a weaver's
tool, and they come to an end without
hope.
7. Remember, God, that my life is only
a breath.

Consider:
Talking to a trusted friend about a problem
that's getting you down.

There are time when only a Mother's love
Can understand our tears,
Can soothe our disappointments
And calm all our fears.

There are times when only a Mother's love
Can share the joy we feel
When something we've dreamed about
Quite suddenly is real.

There are times when only a Mother's faith
Can help us on life's way
And inspire in us the confidence
We need from day to day.

And a Mother's steadfast love
Were fashioned by the Angels

RECIPE FOR FRIENSHIP

1. Speak to people - there is nothing
so nice as a cheerful word of greeting.
2. Smile at people - it takes 72 muscles
to frown and only 16 to smile.
(At my at I better keep on smiling).
3. Call people by name - the sweetest
music to any-one's ear is the sound
of his or her own name.
4. Be sincerely cordial - speak and
act as if it were a genuine pleasure.
5. Be considerate of the feelings of
others - no one likes to be rebuffed
6. Be thoughtful of the opinions of
others - there are three sides to
controversy - yours, the other person's
and the right side.
7. Be genuinely interested in people -
you can like everyone if you try.
8. Be generous with praise - praise
lifts, criticism lowers.
9. Be alert to render service - above
all what counts in life is what we do
for others.
10. Be fair in your criticism -
remember your opinion is personal
with you, and that does not always
make it correct.

DAILY MESSAGE.

I WANT TO BE IN THE CENTER
OF YOUR PLANS FOR MY LIFE,
LORD, KNOWING YOU HAVE
GIVEN ME EVERYTHING,
I NEED FOR WHAT IS AHEAD.

23/09/09

I PRAY EVERY DAY FOR OUR
TRANSPORT, WHICH BY THE
WAY STILL CONSISTS OF 1
VEHICLE WHICH HAS TO BE
SHARED BY 4 PEOPLE. MY
HUSBAND LET MY SON
AND MYSELF (I DON'T KNOW
WHY I HAVE TO ALWAYS GO ALONG,
BUT I SUPPOSE I AM THE FAMILY
GOFER), TAKE HIS (HUSBAND'S)
BAKKIE TO A GARAGE FOR A
QUOTE AFTER HE TRIED TO
FIX IT. THE BAKKIE HOPPED,
CUT OUT AND WENT 40 KM ON
LEVEL ROAD. WE EVENTUALLY
GOT TO THE GARAGE, BUT THE
PROBLEM WAS GETTING HOME.
PS: YOU WON'T BELIEVE IT, BUT
MY HUSBAND FETCHED THE
BAKKIE BACK TODAY AS THE
QUOTE WAS TOO HIGH.
IT WAS RAINING QUITE HARD -
OTHER DAYS THE SUN BAKES
YOU AND WE HAD QUITE DISTANCE
TO GET HOME. ON OUR ROUTE
THERE ARE HARDLY BUSES AND
THE ONLY OPTION WAS A TAXI.
MY SON WANTED TO WALK, BUT
I THOUGHT DAMMIT IF MY 79 YEAR
OLD MOTHER AND HER SISTER OF
68 YEARS CAN CATCH A TAXI
IN PORT ELIZABETH, WHY CAN'T
WE. WHEN THE FIRST TAXI CAME
PAST I JUST PUT UP MY HAND. (I
BELIEVE THERE IS CERTAIN WAYS
YOU HAVE TO FLAG THEM DOWN)
THEY STOPPED AND THEN WE HAD
A DISCUSSION OF WHERE WE WERE
GOING TO GET OFF. I WAS OFFERED
A SEAT FRONT AND MY RELUCTANT
SON WAS PUT IN THE BACK. I HUNG
ON FOR DEAR LIFE, BECAUSE MY
DOOR COULD NOT CLOSE PROPERLY
AND WE WENT A QUITE A SPEED, BUT
WE GOT TO OUR DESTINATION IN
ONE PIECE.
COMMENT: WILL I TAKE A RIDE IN
A TAXI AGAIN? YES, YES, YES. IF
YOU DON'T TRY ANYTHING ONCE
YOU WILL NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU
ARE MISSING. MY DOCTOR SAID
THAT HEART (I HAD A MITRAL VALVE
REPLACED IN 2007) AND HYPERTENSION
IS NOT TOO GOOD AND I AM A
POTENTIAL HEART ATTACK VICTIM.
I CAN'T SIT AND FEEL SORRY FOR
MYSELF - LIFE IS PASSING ME BY
AND THERE IS STILL SO MUCH I
WANT TO DO.

DO ME A FAVOUR: IF YOU HAVE NOT
TAKEN A TAXI RIDE - JUST GO FOR IT.

DO YOURSELF A FAVOUR AND GO
TO ANY HOSPITAL AND SEE HOW
THE PATIENTS ARE SUFFERING
THERE AND YOU WILL THANK
GOD THAT YOU ARE STILL ALIVE.

IF YOU EVER NEED A SHOULDER
TO CRY ON OR JUST SOMEONE
TO LISTEN TO YOU.

GOD BLESS.

A SPIRITUAL AND TRUE POEM

DRINKING FROM MY SAUCER.

I've never made a fortune, and it's
probably too late now.
But I don't worry about that much,
I'm happy anyhow
I'm reaping better that I sowed.
I'm drinking from my saucer,
'Cause my cup has overflowed.

Haven't got a lot of riches,
and sometimes the going's tough
But I've got loving ones all around me,
and that makes me rich enough.
I thank GOD for his Blessings,
and the Mercies He's bestowed.
I'm drinking from my saucer,
'Cause my cup has overflowed.

I remember times when things went wrong,
My faith wore somewhat thin.
But all at once the dark clouds broke,
and the sun peeped through again.

So LORD, help me not to gripe,
about the tough rows I have hoed.
I'm drinking from my saucer,
'Cause my cup has overflowed.

If GOD gives me strength and courage,
When the way grows steep and rough.
I'll not ask for other blessings,
I'm already Blessed enough.

And may I never be too busy,
to help others bear their loads.
Then I'll keep drinking from my saucer,
'Cause my cup has overflowed.

When I think of how many people in this
world have it worse than I do, I realize
just how BLESSED WE really are.
We have the best, OUR FATHER
IN HEAVEN.

my sister - Joan Wilken on the

FEELING LONELY AND DEPRESSED

It is the 15/09/09. Everything seems
to be going wrong with my family.
My husband's bakkie - a 2000i Colt
that he uses for work as he is self-
employed has broken down. My daughter's
old Golf has broken down and had to be
towed in with my car, an Almera.
I know that everyone will be saying at
least we have transport and that is
more than some people have, but
my husband has had to put the tools in the car
with the ladders hanging out of the window.
He needs to get to work otherwise there is
no food and we are renting, so the rent/lights/
water and etc. needs to be paid
My daughter needs the car for work as she
works plus minus 40 Km from home and
she works shifts. She has had to swop
her shifts so that she can work night shift
and my husband can use the car in the
day time. The problem is that my car is
automatic and heavy on petrol. It was
bought (still paying instalments) because
I can only drive automatic and I need the
car as I had a mitral valve replaced,
but I still have problems with
my heart and need to get to a doctor when
required. We do not have the money at
present to repair the two broken down
vehicles.
LORD, SEND YOUR ANGELS TO KEEP
CHARGE OVER ME AND KEEP ME IN
ALL MY WAYS.

Zacchaeus Meets Jesus

Luke 19:1-10
Jesus was going through the city
of Jericho.
A man was there named Zacchaeus
who was a very important tax
collector, and he was wealthy.
He wanted to see who Jesus was,
but he was not able because he
was too short to see above the
crowd.
He ran ahead to a place where
Jesus would come, and he
climed a sycamore tree so he
could see him (Jesus).
When Jesus came to that place,
he looked up and said to him,
"Zacchaeus, hurry and come
down! I must stay at your house
today."
Zacchaeus came down quickly
and welcomed him gladly.
All the people saw this and
began to complain, "Jesus is
staying with a sinner."
But Zacchaeus stood and said
to the Lord, "I will give half of
my possessions to the poor.
And if I have cheated anyone,
I will pay back four times more."
Jesus said to him, "Salvation
has come to this house today,
because this man also belongs
to the family of Abraham.
The Son of Man came to find
lost people and save them."

THANKING GOD FOR MAKING
YOU SPECIAL.
GOD BLESS YOU ALL TODAY.

KEEPING IN FOCUS

Endless loveImage by millzero.com via Flickr

Corinthians 7:29-35
29 Brothers and sisters,
this is what I mean: We
do not have much time
left. So starting now,
those who have wives
should live as if they had
no wives.
30 Those who are crying
should live as if they were
not crying. Those who are
happy should live as if they
were not happy. Those
who buy things should live
as if they own nothing.
31 Those who use the
things of the world should
live as if they were not
using them, because this
world in it present form
will be gone.
32. I want you to be free
from worry. A man who
is not married is busy
with the Lord's work,
trying to please the Lord.
33. But a man who is
married is busy with
things of the world,
trying to please his wife.
34. He must think about
2 things - pleasing his
wife and pleasing the
Lord. A woman who is
not married or a girl who
has never married is
busy with the Lord's
work. She wants to be
holy in body and spirit.
But a married woman
is busy with things of
the world, as to how
she can please her
husband.
35. I am saying this
to help you, not to
limit you. But I want
you to live in the right
way, to give yourselves
fully to the Lord with-
out concern for other
things.
CONSIDER: ASKING
GOD TO REVEAL ANY
DISTRACTIONS IN
YOUR LIFE THAT KEEP
YOU FROM FOCUSING
YOUR LOVE ON HIM.
IN NEED OF PRAYER?

PROVERBS 31:10-31
The Good Wife
10 It is hard to find a
wife, because she is
worth more than rubies.
11. Her husbands trusts
her completely. With
her, he has everything
he needs.
12. She does him good
and not harm for as long
as she lives.
13. She looks for wool
and flax and likes to
work with her hands.
14. She is like a trader's
ship, bringing food from
far away.
15. She gets up while
it is still dark and pre-
pares food for her
family and feeds her
servant girls.
16. She inspects a field
and buys it. With
money she earned, she
plants a vineyard.
17. She does her work
with energy, and her
arms are strong.
18. She knows that
what she makes is good.
Her lamp burns late
into the night.
19. She makes thread
with her hands and
weaves her own cloth.
20. She welcomes the
poor and helps the
needy.
21. She does not
worry about her
family when it snows,
because they all have
fine clothes to keep
them warm.
22. She makes cover-
ings for herself; her
clothes are made of
linen and other
expensive material.
23. Her husband is
known at the city
meetings, where he
makes decisions as
one of the leaders of
the land.
24. She makes linen
clothes and sells them
and provides belts to
merchants.
25. She is strong and
is respected by the
people. She looks for-
ward to the future with
joy.
26. She speaks wise
words and teaches others
to be kind.
27. She watches over
her family and never
wastes her time.
28. Her children speak
well of her. Her husband
also praises her,
29. Saying, "There are
many fine woman, but you
are better than all of them."
30. Charm can fool you,
and beauty can trick you,
but a woman who respects
the Lord should be praised.
31. Give her the reward
she has earned; she should
be praised in public for what
she has done.

LIFE

This sms was sent to
me by a friend - Devi.
When I woke up this
morning in bed I said
to myself; whats life
about? I found the
answers in my very
room; the fan said be
cool, the roof said aim
high. The window said
see the world. The
clock said every minute
is precious, the mirror
said reflect before you
act. The calender said
be up to date. The door
said push hard for your
goals. The carpet said
kneel down and pray.
God bless.

LORD, MAKE ME TO BE

ONE OF YOUR FAITHFUL

INTERCESSORS, AND

TEACH ME HOW TO PRAY

IN POWER.

NEED SOMEONE TO

PRAY WITH YOU.
